Saints are close to losing OC Klint Kubiak before even hiring a head coach

The New Orleans Saints haven’t hired a head coach yet, but they could be saying goodbye to Klint Kubiak, who is one of the most promising coaches on staff.

One promising part of the 2024 season for the New Orleans Saints was Klint Kubiak. The first-year offensive coordinator came to New Orleans with high expectations, and he was delivering on those expectations until losing nearly all of his key offensive players. Still, Kubiak managed to impress a ton of people, and that’s why he could soon be saying goodbye to New Orleans after just one year.

Kubiak has been a hot name for open offensive coordinator roles, and with the Saints currently searching for a head coach, he has been interviewing for open positions throughout the league. It’s now being reported that he’s having a second interview with the Seattle Seahawks for their open offensive coordinator position. This interview is in person, and according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo, Kubiak is in the driver’s seat for that position.

New Orleans will have a new head coach soon, and there’s no telling if the new hire would want to keep Kubiak on staff, so he couldn’t just sit in limbo and wait on the Saints to make a decision. While possibly moving on for him makes sense, it could be a blow to New Orleans, especially if the team hires a non-offensive-minded coach.

While the entire year wasn’t a success with Kubiak on staff, he did help Alvin Kamara produce his most successful season of his career, and he also had the offense putting up over 40 points a game during the brief two weeks they were healthy. Unfortunately, the team just wasn’t healthy for long.

With significant injuries at every part of the offense, the Saints struggled, but Kubiak flashed enough potential to draw interest. Now, it seems like he’ll be moving on and the Saints will start over completely.
