Football time is near. The NFL sent that signal as several teams have started reporting for training camp in some way. The New Orleans Saints were among those teams. On Tuesday, the Saints, and seven other teams, had their rookies report for the start of training camp.

This year’s training camp is being held in Southern California, as the team is currently having work done to its facilities. So New Orleans’ rookies have reported west as they prepare for their first NFL season. They’ll be joined by the veterans in a week on July 23.

Saints rookies report for training camp

2024 will be an important season for New Orleans, and the team has a few rookies that will play a big role. It’s a big season for the Saints because they have been stuck in mediocrity for the last three years, finishing 9-8, 7-10, and 9-8, while missing the playoffs in all three seasons. In order to avoid a rebuild, New Orleans will have to make the playoffs and prove that it can contend.

In order for that to happen, some rookies will have to grow up fast and play well for the Saints. The rookie under the most pressure is offensive lineman Taliese Fuaga. The Saints used their first pick in the draft, 14th overall, to select Fuaga. He’s projected to be the starting left tackle, so he’ll have an incredible challenge in year one.

A couple of other rookies expected to see the field in 2024 are corner Kool-Aid McKinstry and tight end Dallin Holker. McKinstry was selected in the second round and Holker was signed as an undrafted free agent. Still, both are talented rookies with the ability to immediately contribute.

Fifth-round wide receiver Bub Means could also see the field, as he will compete for the WR3 spot.

A rookie that probably won’t see the field this season, but will still get a ton of attention, is quarterback Spencer Rattler. Because of his talent, the fifth-round pick is already a fan-favorite that finds himself in a lot of discussions. He’s also in a battle with Jake Haener for the backup quarterback spot.

These four guys, and all of the other Saints rookies, have a big training camp and season ahead of them, and it’s all getting started on Tuesday as they report.
