Saints lose another veteran to injury during Week 5 game against Chiefs
The New Orleans Saints are playing the back-to-back champion Kansas City Chiefs, who are 4-0, in a road game on Monday Night Football, and on paper, the Chiefs are an extremely tough opponent. However, the toughest opponent the Saints have been facing is good health. New Orleans entered the game with several key players sidelined with injuries, and unfortunately, the team has already seen another starter go down.
In the second quarter of Monday’s game, veteran safety Will Harris pulled up while in pursuit of Kansas City receiver Xavier Worthy, and went down on the Chiefs’ sideline. He eventually got up and limped his way across the field, before going back to the locker room on a cart.
Will Harris sustains hamstring injury against Chiefs
New Orleans announced it was a hamstring injury, like everyone suspected, and the veteran safety has been ruled out for the rest of the game. He was replaced by veteran Johnathan Abram, who was activated from the practice squad prior to the game. Now, the question is how long will Harris be out, as he joins several other talented Saints players on the sideline.
Harris won the starting safety job next to Tyrann Mathieu after signing with New Orleans this season, and he has been having a good year playing with the Saints defense. Coming into a Monday’s game, Harris had 14 tackles, one for a loss, three pass deflections and one interception.
Harris spent the the first five seasons of his career with the Detroit Lions, and he has been a really durable player. Prior to this season, there have only been two games he hasn’t played in during the regular season. The Saints are hoping that remains the case and he can get back on the field sooner rather than later.
