The New Orleans Saints won’t enter the 2024 season short on bulletin board material. All offseason, they have heard how it’s time to rebuild, and how this season will be mediocre at best. Head coach Dennis Allen has been told by critics that he’s already on the hot seat, and everyone has been openly questioning if Derek Carr is the quarterback for this team.

Just recently, the Saints received another chip to put on their shoulder. NFL.com writers voted on their predictions for each division winner. In the NFC South, the Atlanta Falcons received the most votes, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were second. Of 28 voters, 20 people voted for the Falcons, and all other eight votes were placed on Tampa Bay.

Saints didn’t receive any votes in NFC South champion prediction

Essentially, everyone is a fan of Atlanta’s offseason moves. From Kirk Cousins, to Matthew Judon, to Justin Simmons, experts are convinced the NFC South is the Falcons’ division to lose. Tampa Bay, who won the division the last three years, will definitely have something to say about that, and so will New Orleans, who finished second in two of the last three years.

It’s almost as if everyone forgot the Saints finished with the same 9-8 record as the Buccaneers last season. While New Orleans didn’t have an explosive offseason, not much indicates the team will be worse. Sure, Atlanta made the flashy moves, but they have to put it together on the field. Until that happens, it’s only fair to say this division is wide open.

New Orleans, like the other teams in the division, has an easy schedule based on last season’s records. If the Saints offensive line can step up and be consistent, their roster is as worthy as any team in the division as being champion.
