Sunday was a bad day for the Carolina Panthers and their fans, because the New Orleans Saints defeated them 47-10. For New Orleans, it was the perfect way to start the season. For Carolina, fans are left wondering if this season will be just like last season, when the Panthers only won two games.

To make matters worse, Carolina had to watch Derek Carr talking trash to one of their best players. At the end of the third quarter, with the score already 37-10, Carr ran the ball and decided to lower his shoulder on a defender. The veteran quarterback got up laughing and flexing, and Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn didn’t seem to be a fan of that.

The young defender stepped to Carr and said something, and the veteran QB quickly responded. It was hard to make out everything they said, but one thing from Carr was clear. He told Horn, “I got three touchdowns on you,” and made sure to emphatically point at him. The was seemingly the perfect rebuttal, because Horn walked off afterwards.

Sometimes it’s hard to argue with the scoreboard, especially if you’re arguing with a player who was doing most off the cooking. That’s exactly what Carr was doing on Sunday, finishing the game 19-of-23 for 200 yards and three touchdowns. It was so bad for Carolina, Carr could’ve been out of the game at the end of the third quarter, but he was still in the game dropping his shoulder and bars on defenders.

The elite play and trash talk certainly endeared him to Saints fans, something Carr has been adamant about doing, considering his reputation with New Orleans fans. He’s certainly off to the right start in his second year with the team, and everyone is hoping that continues.
