There have been a lot of trade rumors surrounding the New Orleans Saints this offseason, and the franchise hasn’t done much to silence those rumors. We saw this earlier in the offseason when head coach Dennis Allen was asked about Marshon Lattimore trade rumors. Allen emphasized that Lattimore was on the team right now as an important piece, but left the door open in a sense, saying that a lot of things can happen throughout the offseason.

Now, Allen is making similar comments about one of the team’s stars on the offensive side of the ball. At the recent league meetings, Allen was asked if former Saints offensive coordinator, Pete Carmichael, asked if he could take Taysom Hill with him to the Denver Broncos. Allen responded that the conversation didn’t happen, but went on to joke that Sean Payton is trying to get everyone from the Saints to Denver, so the team will wait and see if the conversation about Hill actually happens.

Dennis Allen jokes that Sean Payton wants everyone from the Saints

Since taking the Broncos job, Payton has brought a ton of former Saints to Denver— coaches and players. Carmichael, Dan Dalrymple, Joe Lombardi, and Mike Westhoff are all former Saints coaches currently on Denver’s staff. Six former New Orleans players are also on the Broncos roster.

That’s why the Broncos were immediately circled as a team that could trade for Taysom Hill. It was Payton and Carmichael who essentially came up with the plan to employ Hill in the versatile way that he’s used, so it’s fair to imagine that they may want to create that magic with the Broncos. If they do, it doesn’t seem like Dennis Allen is closed off to the idea.

This past season, Hill ran the ball 81 times for 401 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught 33 passes for 291 yards and an additional two touchdowns, while also completing six passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. Still an impactful player, Hill has two years remaining on his deal, with $10 million due each year. Will those years be played with the Saints or the Broncos?
