Saints are reportedly aggressively pursuing a Davante Adams trade
Once news broke that Davante Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders were open to a trade for the star receiver, New Orleans Saints fans loved the idea of Adams coming to New Orleans, but weren’t optimistic it’d actually happen. Saints fans were injected with a shot of optimism once it was reported New Orleans, along with the New York Jets, were at the top of Adams’ wishlist.
Now, Saints fans’ hopes are at an all-time high after the latest Davante Adams development. Saturday night, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that New Orleans has been the most aggressive team in pursuit of Adams thus far.
"Adams, sources say, views the New York Jets and his old friend Aaron Rodgers, as his top choice for a landing spot. That's where he wants to play. But it's been the New Orleans Saints who have been the most aggressive, while other teams, including the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers, have closely monitored the situation and stayed in touch. The Jets remain very much in the mix, as well."

Saints are pursuing a Davante Adams trade
In the midst of a ton of bad injury news, this is the kind of news New Orleans’ fans need to hear right now. Adams would give the Saints an elite trio of receivers, with Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, and improve the groups’ depth— a noticeable issue New Orleans has had through four weeks.
Adams is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, but according to Rapoport, he could be ready to return in Week 6, and that’s why trade talks are expected to heat up in the coming days.
If the Saints stay in the mix, and actually pull off a trade, they will have to do some salary cap gymnastics to take on his contract, but salary cap management is second nature for New Orleans’ front office. The Saints will figure out the necessary restructures that allows the team to add Adams and improve their chances of winning a Super Bowl this season.
