Marshon Lattimore silences all concerns, showing up to Saints minicamp

There has been a lot of concern about Marshon Lattimore’s future with the New Orleans Saints, but his presence at mandatory minicamp should change that.

Despite Marshon Lattimore’s silence this offseason, things have been pretty loud surrounding him and the New Orleans Saints. When the offseason first started, there were rumors about Lattimore possibly being traded. It didn’t help that the team gave vague statements that only fueled the rumors.

However, as the offseason went on, and Lattimore remained on the roster, the organization finally made it clear that the plan is for Lattimore to stay with the team. Still, the veteran corner didn’t attend voluntary OTAs, and that caused some concern about where he stood with the team. Because of that, everyone was waiting to see if Lattimore would report for mandatory minicamp.

That question was answered on Monday, when Nick Underhill reported that Lattimore arrived at the team facility, and is set to practice with New Orleans for the next three days of mandatory minicamp.

Marshon Lattimore will practice with Saints during mandatory minicamp

Lattimore has three more seasons on his contract, and he’s owed a lot of money. Additionally, there haven’t been any public reports that he requested a trade, so him not attending minicamp wouldn’t have made sense. Since it is mandatory, he would’ve been subject to fines. With him in attendance, he doesn’t have to worry about that.

Instead, Lattimore will focus on leading an elite secondary that added another talented corner, Kool-Aid McKinstry, in the draft. Beyond that, Lattimore must focus on being healthy, as injuries have impacted his career over the last two seasons. In 2022, Lattimore only played in seven games. In 2023, he played in 10 games. When on the field, he’s still an elite corner, he just has to stay on the field.

If he can, the secondary that includes him, Paulson Adebo, McKinstry, Alontae Taylor, and Tyrann Mathieu and Jordan Howden at safety, will be dangerous. If the defensive front can match what the back end is capable of, the Saints will have a defense that can win them games.
