Latest updates on Taysom Hill chest injury after post-win hospital visit
The New Orleans Saints started their season with a blowout win, and they did it again in Week 2, dominating the Dallas Cowboys 44-19. That’s back-to-back wins with over 40 points, as the Saints make their case for having the best offense in the NFL.
Among the reasons why New Orleans’ offense has been so explosive is new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, and versatile skill players like Taysom Hill, who Kubiak can draw up plays for. Unfortunately, Hill left Sunday's game with an injury.
It was announced during the game that the do-it-all weapon sustained a chest injury, and took a quick trip to the blue tent on the sideline before heading back to the locker room. After the game, head coach Dennis Allen didn’t provide specific details of what exactly Hill was dealing with, but he did reveal the veteran athlete went to a local hospital.
While that’s always concerning to hear, Allen explained the hospital visit as more precautionary than anything, and likely to get more imaging.
Taysom Hill goes to hospital with chest injury after Saints win
In the game, Hill had three carries for 18 yards, and one reception for one yard. In Week 1, he carried the ball five times for 35 yards, and had another one-yard reception.
While his numbers aren’t all that impressive, anyone who has watched the Saints in their first two games this year understands how important Hill is to the offense. For starters, Hill lines up at tight end, fullback, quarterback, running back, and receiver. That versatility opens the door for a lot of creativity. Even when the Saints keep it simple and run traditional run plays out of 21 personnel, it’s Hill at fullback who’s opening up lanes for Alvin Kamara as the lead blocker.
He’s certainly a player New Orleans wants to have on the field, so everyone will be hoping everything’s fine with his chest, and closely monitoring his availability throughout the week.
