It is NOT cutesy!

Derek Carr joined the New Orleans Saints last year and it hasn't gone swimmingly by any means. The Saints finished the season 9-8 and Carr shouldered a lot of the blame for that. He finished the season with 25 touchdowns and eight picks and the team did start to show potential at the end of the 2023 campaign.

It's no secret that Saints fans aren't all hyped about Carr and they were called out on X by someone commenting on Kay Adams' post where she shared her latest interview with the Saints signal-caller. The user said "Incoming insufferable #Saints fans that hate Carr..." to which Adams quote tweeted with the following reply.

Kay Adams: "not supporting your qb is not cutesy"

For those who might be confused by Adams' wording here, she's saying that fans should support their quarterback. Social media isn't the best place to go to gauge fans' reactions since most people are negative, especially on X. Adams' point still stands though and she's not about people dissing Carr.

Let's rewind a bit here and try to tackle why the fan base might not be Carr's biggest fans. When the Saints signed Carr to a lengthy contract last year, it was a puzzling decision. Rather than the team simply accepting a rebuild and hitting the reset button, Mickey Loomis kept spending money and now the Saints are stuck with Carr for at least two more years (there's a potential out on his deal in 2026). The team could already be in the rebuilding process but they opted to keep trying to win despite their salary woes in recent years.

That being said, while Carr struggled during his inaugural year with the Saints, it's not like the team had a top-tier offensive line in front of him. He did the best he could with an atrocious line and did start to show some promise near the end of the season.

Hopefully Carr shows that end of the year swagger that ultimately led the Saints to a winning season. Otherwise, those "insufferable Saints fans" are going to continue to run rampant on social media.
