Is Marshon Lattimore playing today? Full injury update for Saints corner
The New Orleans Saints have a tough matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, and all week fans were wondering if veteran cornerback Marshon Lattimore was going to play. Lattimore dealt with a hip injury throughout camp, and picked up a hamstring injury in Week 1. He missed practice all week, so his status for the game was unknown.
Is Marshon Lattimore playing against the Cowboys?
Unfortunately, the veteran corner is not playing in Sunday’s game against Dallas. He tried to give it a go pregame, but the team ultimately decided to keep him out of the action. Certainly a tough decision considering his role, but the Saints want to make sure Lattimore is healthy for the long haul.
Marshon Lattimore inactive for Saints against Cowboys
While having Lattimore healthy for the rest of the year is definitely important, him missing the game against Dallas certainly isn’t ideal. The Cowboys like to throw the football, especially since they have star receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is a tough cover for anyone. Having Lattimore on the field definitely helps with the challenge of defending Lamb.
The good news for New Orleans is Lattimore isn’t the team’s only good corner. He’s certainly the best, but the Saints have a lot of talent and depth in the secondary. Paulson Adebo is still starting on one side, Alontae Taylor is still in the slot, and rookie Kool-Aid McKinstry will start in place of Lattimore.
McKinstry is a rookie, but the team has a ton of confidence in him. He was a three-year starter at Alabama, so he has a ton of big-game experience. Additionally, he got a lot of reps in training camp as Lattimore was sidelined with a hip injury, so he’s ready for the opportunity, and has a chance to make a name for himself at the NFL level.
