The New Orleans Saints are getting back to work in Week 2, taking on the Dallas Cowboys for New Orleans’ first road game of the season. Both teams enter the game 1-0, coming off dominant Week 1 victories. The Saints defeated the Carolina Panthers 47-10, and the Cowboys won against the Cleveland Browns 33-17.

Unfortunately, New Orleans will be without a few key players, including superstar corner Marshon Lattimore. Lattimore and a few other players were annouced as inactives before the game.

Key absences and their impact

Of course, Lattimore’s absence could have a huge impact on Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. Dallas has an explosive passing attack, led by wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Without Marshon Lattimore, slowing Lamb and the Cowboys down becomes even more of a challenge.

Fortunately, the Saints have a deep, talented secondary. They’ll lean on veteran Paulson Adebo and rookie Kool-Aid McKinstry, who will start in place of Lattimore. McKinstry is a rookie, but he has a lot of talent and experience, playing in a ton of big games at The University of Alabama. New Orleans will also have Alontae Taylor playing in the slot.

New Orleans will also be without second-year wide receiver A.T. Perry for a second straight game. The young wideout has been dealing with a hand injury, and although he returned to practice this week, he’s not ready for action. That means a receiver other than Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed must be ready to step up.

Also noteworthy, rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler is once again inactive, and designated as the emergency quarterback. This means Jake Haener remains QB2 in New Orleans. This was the case in Week 1 and is still the case.
