Is Marshon Lattimore playing today? Full injury update for Saints corner
The New Orleans Saints have been elite to start the 2024 season, but they’ve only played one game with Marshon Lattimore. The veteran cornerback missed the majority of training camp with a hip injury but was back in time for Week 1. However, a hamstring injury in that first game sidelined Lattimore for the Week 2 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Now, as New Orleans prepares to host the Philadelphia Eagles, everyone wants to know if the star corner is playing. The answer is yes, Marshon Lattimore is playing against the Eagles.
Marshon Lattimore returns for Saints Week 3 game against Eagles
Lattimore worked out pregame in Week 2, and came close to playing, but the team ultimately decided to keep him sidelined. It proved to be a good decision, because Lattimore got to heal up, while the rest of the defensive backs in New Orleans dominated the Cowboys.
The cornerback returned to the practice field for the first time since Week 1 on Wednesday, but he was limited. He was also limited on Thursday. However, he a had a full practice on Friday, and that made it seem like a Week 3 return was inevitable.
Lattimore will be lining up against a Philadelphia Eagles team without their best receiver, as A.J. Brown is out with an injury. However, Philly still has DeVonta Smith, Saquon Barkley, and Jalen Hurts. The Eagles have more than enough talent to put up a lot of points, so Lattimore and the Saints need to have their best game.
With New Orleans’ emphasis on keeping Lattimore healthy for the long haul, it’ll be interesting to see how the team utilizes him in his first game back. Since the Saints are deep in the secondary, they could rotate Lattimore and give him time to work back to form.
