The Week 3 game between the New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles was a physical affair. If that wasn’t evident by the 15-12 score, it surely was by both teams’ injury reports this past week. Both teams, especially New Orleans, had several players dealing with injuries.

The Saints had several of their key guys like Alvin Kamara on the injury report all week. The veteran running back missed practice on Wednesday with a hip injury and injured ribs, but returned for limited practices on Thursday and Friday. Following the week of practice, his game status was questionable.

Now, as game day has arrived, it has been reported the star running back is planning to play.

This is great news for New Orleans, because not only is Kamara an elite player that needs to be on the field, he’s the focal point for the Saints offense. Everything the team does is built around Alvin Kamara’s skillset and production.

So far this season, it has been an extremely productive year for Kamara. Through three games, he already has 61 carries for 285 yards and a league-leading four rushing touchdowns. He also has 10 receptions for 132 yards and one touchdown.

With Kamara playing at this level, the New Orleans Saints are averaging 343.3 yards a game and 34.3 points a game. After back-to-back weeks of scoring over 40 points to start the season, the offense fell flat in Week 3 with just 12 points against the Eagles.

New Orleans will try to get back to a lot of points against the Falcons, but health will still be a challenge that could prevent that. While Kamara is playing, starting center Erik McCoy has been placed on injured reserve after a groin surgery, and right guard Cesar Ruiz has already been ruled out for this game with a knee injury. So with the offensive line depleted, there’s no telling how Kamara or the offense will look in Week 4.
