The New Orleans Saints have completed their first set of OTA practices, hitting the field for three days from May 21-23. However, they did so with quite a few players absent, including some notable stars. The players not in attendance were headlined by running back Alvin Kamara and cornerback Marshon Lattimore. Head coach Dennis Allen took time to talk to the media about both guys being out, saying that he wishes everyone was in attendance, but he trusts that guys are doing what they need to do to get ready.

Ultimately, attendance is voluntary, so all the team can do is hope that guys show up. Here’s a look at all the players that were absent at the start of OTAs.

• RB Alvin Kamara
• CB Marshon Lattimore
• RT Ryan Ramczyk (Knee)
• DE Chase Young (Neck)
• RB Jamaal Williams
• DT Nathan Shepherd
• WR Stanley Morgan
• LB Nephi Sewell
• LB Jaylan Ford

Some of these guys— Chase Young and Ryan Ramczyk —were absent because of injuries. However, Dennis Allen also said that he was aware of why everyone wasn’t in attendance. So it seems like the Saints don’t have any problematic absences.

The team will get things started back up on Tuesday, May 28. New Orleans will hold OTAs from May 28-30, then again from June 3-6. It’ll be interesting to see if the attendance list changes for the next seven practices. Things will, of course, conclude with a mandatory minicamp from June 11-13. Everyone is required to be in attendance for that.
