The New Orleans Saints have been elite through two games this season and they haven’t even been at full strength. Teams are rarely at full strength at any point in the season, but New Orleans played its Week 2 game without star cornerback Marshon Lattimore. Fortunately, that didn’t stop the team from blowing the Dallas Cowboys out 44-19.

Now, Lattimore seems on track to make his return. On Wednesday, the Saints released their first injury report for Week 3, and there were positive developments for Lattimore and other players on the report.

Lattimore returned to practice in a limited capacity, and that’s great news. Last week, the starting corner didn’t practice at all, and was ultimately held out of the game. Him practicing in any fashion bodes well for a possible return to the field in Week 3.

Tyrann Mathieu practicing on Wednesday is also good news. While he hasn’t missed a game this season, he did miss last Wednesday’s practice with the same heel issue. He’s seemingly ahead of where he was a week ago.

Taliese Fuaga is still dealing with the same back issue he’s been dealing with, but that hasn’t slowed him down. Additionally, it’s never good to see a speedster like Rashid Shaheed on the injury report with a lower-body injury, but the fact he had a full practice indicates the hip issue may not be that serious.

The lone bad news on the report is Taysom Hill missing practice entirely with the chest injury he sustained in Sunday’s win. Hill went to the hospital following the game, but head coach Dennis Allen described the visit as precautionary. With his versatility and importance to the offense, he’s certainly someone whose status will be checked all week.
