The reason the New Orleans Saints enter every offseason with a terrible cap situation is that they have a ton of high-paid veterans. From Derek Carr to Alvin Kamara to Marshon Lattimore to Demario Davis, the Saints have several players that are being paid a pretty penny. It’s a good problem to have, because usually that means the players are good.

However, there’s also as chance that players with big contracts could be being overpaid. Ask some Saints fans, and they’ll surely tell you which players they think are making too much money; the guys whose play doesn’t necessarily match their play. While fans will certainly have a list, they’ll probably even be surprised to learn who Bleacher Report considers New Orleans’ most overpaid player.

Brad Gagnon recently named the most overpaid player for all 32 teams. For New Orleans, Gagnon decided that cornerback Marshon Lattimore was the team’s most overpaid player.

Lattimore, who has three years left on a five-year, $97.603 million contract, is due $15 million in 2024, $18 million in 2025, and $18.5 million in 2026. Gagnon argues that Lattimore deserves this title because “the 27-year-old has been extremely ineffective while suiting up for just 17 games the last two seasons.” Gagnon also makes it clear that Kamara and Ryan Ramczyk would be worthy selections if not for Lattimore.

There’s no question that everyone would love for Lattimore to be on the field more; he played just 10 games last season and seven in the season before that. However, he’s still a quality corner when on the field, and a couple of unfortunate injuries haven’t stopped the fans from understanding that. That’s why there’s so much pushback about Lattimore potentially being traded.

If anyone wants to make the argument that Marshon Lattimore is overpaid because of a couple of injuries, have at it. But when he’s on the field, he’s worth his contract.
