4 Saints who are already turning heads at OTAs
The NFL has officially reached the OTA portion of the offseason, which means all teams are holding voluntary practices. For the New Orleans Saints, this is an important phase, as they are implementing a new offense, and getting rookies up to speed at some important positions. Since it is voluntary, not everyone is in attendance, but the majority of players are. The season is still a couple of months away, but this is when teams lay their foundation.
With OTAs being open for the media, reporters have been on hand, taking these practices in. While it’s too early to make any declarations, it’s fair to say that some players have stood out more than others. Let’s take a look at a few of the players who are already turning heads.
4 Saints players who have already impressed at OTAs
4. QB Jake Haener
One of the biggest storylines out of the first day was that Jake Haener looked good. Coming into his second season, Haener is hoping to put his PEDs suspension behind him and cement himself as Derek Carr’s backup. He’s reportedly off to a great start after some sharp days during OTAs.
3. LB Willie Gay Jr.
Willie Gay Jr. was the first player the Saints signed in free agency this offseason, adding him to what is now a deep linebacker room. It was pointed out that Gay brought some unfamiliar speed to the second unit linebacker group. The question, though, is if Gay will remain on the second unit.
2. TE Dallin Holker
After the 2024 NFL Draft, New Orleans made Dallin Holker the highest-paid undrafted free agent this year. There was a belief that he could be an immediate impact player in the offense, and that is already proving true. Even as an undrfated rookie, Holker already has a noticeable presence.
1. WR A.T. Perry
A.T. Perry ended his rookie season turning heads, so it’s only right he picks up where he left off. Perry is responsible for the biggest highlight play so far, snagging a massive catch with one hand. His big-play ability is why fans are so excited to see what he has to offer in year two.
