The New Orleans Saints are nearing the start of their 2023 training camp, with the first official practice taking place on Friday, July 28.

This will be the first time fans will truly see Derek Carr in action as he prepares for his first season with the club. There's also the hope that Michael Thomas can return to form while other stars such as Marshon Lattimore are ready to put in the work to contend for the NFC South.

While all these big-name players will get plenty of attention, there are some under-the-radar Saints to keep an eye on as well. Here, we identify three players that can make a name for themselves in camp.

3. Lewis Kidd, Guard

When training camp kicked off in 2022, Lewis Kidd was identified as a player to watch — and he didn't disappoint. An undrafted free agent from Montana State, Kidd moved from guard to tackle during his collegiate days and had the type of versatility that coaches love to have on the bench.

Kidd was able to do enough to not only make the 53-man roster but he also appeared in 13 games with one start. Clearly, he did enough to earn the trust of the Saints' coaches.

Now in year two, he's no longer an unknown player but he's not exactly getting a lot of attention. He's also not likely to push for a starting job with Andrus Peat and Cesar Ruiz still locked in but if he can continue to secure playing time, he might be able to develop into a much more affordable starter down the road.

Of course, the first step is showing off the progress he's made from his rookie campaign.
