Just a year ago, the New Orleans Saints didn't present any truly exciting fantasy football options. Fast forward to present day, and this could be a sneaky-fun team to own shares in.

Tyler Shough is quietly on the rise. Chris Olave had a fantastic year in 2025 and now gets a running mate in first-round pick Jordyn Tyson. The constantly-overlooked and underrated Juwan Johnson is still a viable receiving threat at tight end.

And then, you have the back field.

For fantasy managers, the late-summer months are crucial. Throughout training camp and preseason, we will have every fantasy football-related update you need when it comes to the Saints. Keep it locked here and check back often.

Note: This story will be updated regularly throughout the New Orleans Saints' training camp and preseason.

Latest Fantasy Football updates for the Saints: News, injuries and position battles

Jordyn Tyson looks smooth -- 8/9

The first round rookie creates separation with ease, as his connection with Shough grows. He snagged all three of his targets and looks like a real playmaker in this offense.

Barion Brown continues to stand out -- 8/6

Ross Jackson of Louisianasports.net reported that Brown has been the most "explosive player" in camp. During this practice, he reeled in a pass from Tyler Shough on a comeback route before catching a 46-yard touchdown from Spencer Rattler.

Alvin Kamara has an edge over Travis Etienne in this area -- 8/5

NOLA.com’s Jeff Duncan has reported that Kamara is getting the majority of reps on third-down and passing reps. Although Etienne is getting most first-team reps on early downs, Kamara appears to be the go-to option as the receiving back.

Barion Brown made catch of the day -- 8/4

The rookie receiver reeled in a ball from Spencer Rattler for what would have been a 40-yard gain. Brown adjusted to the ball after getting past Martin Emerson Jr., per Jeff Nowak of AudacySports. Brown wasn't able to catch a similar pass earlier in practice, so it's good to see him bounce back the next time he gets a chance.

Chris Olave looks like his usual self -- 8/3

According to Underhill, Olave looked good during 1-on-1s, easily creating separation.

Tyler Shough had a bounce back practice -- 8/3

Shough finished this session going 11-of-14 with no turnovers, per Underhill. He ended by completing six of his last seven throws, with a deep pass to running back Travis Etienne, who adjusted to the ball in the air.

Two rookie receivers seem to be leading charge on second-team -- 8/3

Per Underhill, rookies Barion Brown and Bryce Lance have gotten the bulk of snaps at receiver with the second team. Lance caught three passes, including a touchdown from Spencer Rattler.

Tyler Shough struggled against defense in red zone -- 8/2

Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reported that the defense got the better of Shough in the red area. He had Shough going 3-of-13 in those drills, with an interception caught by Julian Blackmon.

Jordyn Tyson admits fault in some miscommunication with Tyler Shough -- 7/31

Tyson had some moments where he wasn't on the same page with his quarterback. Tyson turned around too late on a play, where the pass hit him in the shoulder. Another missed pass led to an interception, but the rookie receiver took the blame for both plays. It's early, but the rookie is already going through some growing pains, which are to be expected.

Alvin Kamara showed flashes of his "2024" self -- 7/31

Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Times-Picayune wrote that "Kamara definitely looks more like the 2024 version of himself than the player whose production dramatically fell off last year. A day after scoring a 5-yard touchdown on a draw, Kamara showed good burst getting through the hole off left guard during the first-team period Friday."

Chris Olave gets big extension just as camp begins -- 7/30

Olave and New Orleans agreed on a four-year extension that's worth up to $132 million. The deal featured $90 million guaranteed, keeping Olave locked in through the 2030 season.

Chris Olave holding in to start training camp -- 7/29

Olave is in the midst of wanting a new contract as he enters his fifth year. He took part in individual drills but sat out the 7-on-7 portion, per Saints beat reporter Ross Jackson. This is only Day 1, so it isn't worrisome -- yet. If we get a couple of weeks in, then angst will start to build.

Jordyn Tyson 'cut it loose' on Day 1 -- 7/29

The health concerns over Jordyn Tyson make sense, given his history, but Tyson was able to "cut it loose" on Day 1 of practice, again according to Jackson.

"He caught his first pass of team drills during the second session from Shough on a quick pass to the left side. His explosive nature and ability to separate off of the line of scrimmage are very easy to see, even in a training camp environment," wrote Jackson.

Tyler Shough looking like a late-round steal as a fantasy QB2 -- 7/29

The table is set for Shough to have a phenomenal season. He presents mobility and runs a bit, but the weapons are all there. Currently, he is being drafted anywhere from the QB18 to the QB21. Don't forget, from Week 10 on last season, Shough had an impressive five top-12 finishes, including three inside the top 10.
