New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough has not slowed down since the end of mandatory minicamp. Just a few weeks until training camp, the new QB in town has organized a workout with his teammates in Del Mar, Calif. Oh, and also Drew Brees.

It's a big thing for Shough, the potential next franchise QB in New Orleans, to do. It's also something that hasn't been done by a Saints QB since Drew was in town, if you want an idea of the kind of person who does that with his team. Good thing, then, that the Hall of Famer was there himself. Working out with the team like old times, Brees also had a chance to show Shough how some things should be done. Brees, one of the best to be a franchise quarterback, showed the new guy the ropes.

That really holds a lot of value, because Shough was already on the up and up. Now having learned from a franchise icon, there's no telling what he could do this season or the next. The workouts were really a merging of the past, present, and future of the team.

The Del Mar workouts shows how far Saints' QB Tyler Shough has come in his career

The workouts are also proof of how much the locker room has bought into Shough, despite him having started only nine games his rookie year. Not many people do that in the NFL, and if you ask his center, he'll just give you a look to show how impressive Shough has been so far in his career.

Erik McCoy gave him the shout on Terron Armstead's podcast. "Two big things he's grown in are confidence and leadership," the team captain said. "Last year you had a guy that was in the huddle taking command a little bit, to a guy that is fully in command of the huddle now. A guy that's on his own, when we run a bad play, that says, 'Hey, we're running the whole joint back.' You don't see that too often, especially in this New Orleans heat."

Shough is also already following in the footsteps of Drew, it seems. He's doing things that havent been done since the legend retired, and has NFL veterans fully bought in. It's also not the last time a workshop will happen, and is expected to be the first of many. It's what Shough wants to do, "whether that's in Del Mar or another place," because of the memories made and the work that gets put in.
