Cam Jordan will fulfill his desire of being a lifelong Saint by closing out his career this season. His teammate, Justin Reid commented on the return and positioned Jordan right next to Drew Brees in New Orleans Saints history.

Reid recently said, “When you think New Orleans Saints, to me, the first person that comes to mind is probably Drew Brees, and then the second person that comes to mind is Cam Jordan.” The Saints have had some great players in their history, so this is a large statement.

It’s a large statement that Reid is qualified to say. He isn’t just a current Saints player, he’s a lifelong Saints fan. If there was anyone who can speak on this, he’s one of them.

Cam Jordan is one of the faces of New Orleans Saints history

There isn’t going to be a unanimous answer outside of Brees. He’s obviously the first person you think of. He’s the greatest quarterback in franchise history and brought a Super Bowl to the franchise.

The next person I’d think of is Sean Payton. He and Brees are connected like Siamese twins in my mind. Maybe Reid was just thinking of players, but saying person left room to include Payton.

If we’re just talking players, it isn’t many players that would contend with Jordan from an objective standpoint. We all have our biases that makes our mind drift to certain players, but it's hard to find many players who genuinely represent the Saints more than Jordan has.

One factor to keep in mind is Reid was born in 1997, so players like Archie Manning and members of the Dome Patrol wouldn't jump to Reid's mind. Older fans may have a different opinion. For Reid and football fans closer to his age, Jordan, Marques Colston, Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara are likely fighting to be that next player after Brees

Jordan has done it longer than all of them, and that gives him a bit of an edge on the competition. Jordan has the record for most sacks in Saints history. He'll have started and finished his career only playing for the Saints.

Off the field, Jordan is a vocal advocate for the team and their moves on social media as well as the community. Jordan's legacy is half on the field and half off the field. Some fans will have a different answers, but it's difficult to truly poke holes in Reid's argument.
