As the NFL prepares for the 2026 season, the New Orleans Saints have emerged as a team that people are excited about. Because of the promise that quarterback Tyler Shough showed down the stretch of his rookie season, and the offseason moves the team made, New Orleans has been a popular pick for teams that could go from worst to first.

The team will enter training camp with all of this optimism, and during camp, the Saints could be given one more major reason to be excited. That reason could come from rookie receiver Jordyn Tyson, who New Orleans selected with the eighth-overall pick in the 2026 Draft.

For Tyson to deliver one last jolt of optimism, he will need to make it through training camp healthy. If he can do that, New Orleans will start the season on a high.

Jordyn Tyson’s health is the final piece to the puzzle of Saints’ exciting offseason

Tyson’s pre-draft process was clouded with talk about his health history. The wideout had a college career that included a multi-ligament knee tear, a broken collarbone, and a hamstring injury. While some people wondered if those injuries would scare teams away from the top-10 talent, New Orleans wasn’t afraid.

Despite the Saints’ lack of fear, they have been cautious with the receiver since his arrival in New Orleans. Tyson’s hamstring injury lingered into the pre-draft process, so the Saints have been intentional about giving the receiver’s body a break and time to fully heal, before his first season in the NFL.

While New Orleans has been adamant that their plan with Tyson is just about being smart and careful, fans are, understandably, still holding their breath. However, Tyson and the team could help everyone exhale in training camp.

Obviously, there will be a ramp up process for the young wideout, but if Tyson gets to a point where he’s practicing without restrictions, making the kind of plays that made him a top-10 pick, and remaining healthy throughout camp, Saints fans won’t be able to contain their emotions entering the 2026 season.

In an offseason where so much has gone right for the Saints, Jordyn Tyson having a healthy training camp will be the final step.
