The 2025 offseason will be a massive one for the New Orleans Saints. The team will hire a new head coach, possibly be in the market for a new quarterback, and the franchise could also be saying farewell to a ton of longtime veterans on the roster. The Saints will have a lot of change this offseason, but it will be needed for the team to get back to being a contender.
While everyone sees that change is coming for New Orleans, not everyone is convinced the change will immediately lead to wins. That was clear in ESPN’s recent way-too-early 2025 power rankings. With last season just ending, the experts at ESPN are already trying to predict how the teams will stack up in the 2025 season.
Of course, New Orleans was ranked near the bottom of the list, at No. 27.

ESPN’s Katherine Terrell said New Orleans’ offseason will be best described by the words “big turnover.” She went on to detail how the Saints will have changes all throughout the coaching staff.
"The Saints are poised to hire Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, prompting the biggest turnover of their coaching staff since the Sean Payton era... Many of the assistants, including offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, linebackers coach Michael Hodges and quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko, have left for other jobs. The Saints coaching staff will look vastly different than it did a year ago."Katherine Terrell (ESPN)
If New Orleans actually gets across the finish line with Moore like everyone expects, he will have the task of building a staff, as several of the Saints’ assistants have already moved on. After that, he and the team will turn to roster construction. The biggest question as far as the roster goes is at the quarterback position. Will Derek Carr return for a third year or is it time for him to find a new team?
Either way, New Orleans isn’t expected to be competitive next season. Between the roster and the cap space, experts believe it will take a couple of years for Kellen Moore to make New Orleans a threat again.
