When several teams started the process of searching for a head coach after the conclusion of the 2024 regular season, the opening for the New Orleans Saints was immediately deemed the worst. Between the aging roster, a horrendous cap situation, and a questionable general manager, analysts characterized the Saints as the least appealing vacancy.
That proved to be true as several candidates canceled or denied interviews with New Orleans. Now, with only the Super Bowl left to be played, the Saints are the only team that haven't hired a head coach. However, it’s been reported that Kellen Moore is now the team’s target, and since he is the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, who are playing on Sunday, he can’t be hired until after the game.
Whether it be Moore or another candidate, they will have a tough task on their hands, and the challenges will start immediately. Because of how long the coaching search has gone for the Saints, the new head coach will be tasked with building a staff from a relatively small pool of candidates.

Saints have to replace a lot of coaches in 2025
Oftentimes, head coaches bring in their own staff, but they usually hold over guys from the previous regime as well. Unfortunately for the Saints, they have to replace far more than the head coach. Klint Kubiak left this offseason for the Seattle Seahawks, and Darren Rizzi is expected to join the Denver Broncos. Additionally, several other assistants have moved on as well.
This is par for the course with coaching changes, but considering how late it is in the offseason, many of the top coordinators and assistants have already committed to new opportunities. Of course, there are still a ton of coaches Kellen Moore, or any candidate, could bring in with him, but the next head coach will have to fill quite a few positions, with a very limited group of candidates.
