Week 10 was the most fun New Orleans Saints fans have had since the first two weeks of the season. After calling for Dennis Allen’s job all season, fans finally rejoiced as the organization decided to move on. Then, on game day, things got really fun.
The Saints finally won a game. After seven straight losses, New Orleans picked up its third win of the season, and it was at home against the Atlanta Falcons. Truly, fans couldn’t ask for a better moment, so Sunday was all about celebrating. Celebrating Darren Rizzi’s first win, the end of the streak, and Alvin Kamara making franchise history.
Just a great time all around. Unfortunately, every party has someone that brings the mood down. For the Saints, that was none other than Derek Carr. During the postgame interview on the field, Carr gave a special shoutout to the recently fired Dennis Allen, and fans were not thrilled.
Derek Carr upsets Saints fans by praising Dennis Allen after win over Falcons
When asked about the team’s ability to finish the game after a tough week, Carr said New Orleans deserves a winner. That certainly made fans smile. The smile was short lived, though, because he followed that up with praise from Dennis Allen. Carr shouted out Allen for helping the team build this, and while he wasn’t on the sideline Sunday, the veteran QB believed the former coach paved the way for Sunday’s victory.
Whether that’s true or not, or if it’s just what was on Carr’s heart at the time, fans definitely weren’t trying to hear it. They made that clear responding to the video, reminding Carr that he’s not all that beloved by the fan base either.
Talk about not reading the room. No one wants to talk about the recently fired coach that lost his last seven games, while celebrating winning the first game in his absence. But, of course Carr would be the one not to get that memo.
