On Sunday, the 2024 season ended, as the Philadelphia Eagles established their dominance over the entire league, winning Super Bowl 59 40-22 over the Kansas City Chiefs. While Philly celebrates, the rest of the league is already working, hoping to make the moves necessary to be in the Eagles’ position.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, a part of other teams’ work to get better means taking their pieces. That's what the New Orleans Saints have in mind with their plan to hire Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. It was largely reported throughout Super Bowl week that Moore is likely coaching his last game with the Eagles before joining the Saints.
Following the win, Philadelphia’s head coach Nick Sirianni tried his best to ruin New Orleans’ plans, taking a moment during his on-air interview to ask Kellen Moore to run it back. However, the fact that Philly actually won, in such a dominant fashion, means Moore to New Orleans is likely a forgone conclusion now.
Saints are expected to officially hire Kellen Moore soon
If the Eagles would have lost the Super Bowl, there’s definitely a chance Moore could’ve been convinced to run it back. There have been situations in the past where coordinators were hot coaching candidates, but an underwhelming finish to their season led to them returning instead of taking a head coaching opportunity.
The Saints don’t have to worry about that with Moore; business is finished in Philadelphia. It’s also exciting for New Orleans that Moore went out with a bang, as the Eagles dropped a combined 95 points in their final two games. Philly did have a defensive score on Sunday, but the offense had 345 yards, and scored the rest of the 40 points.
Now, New Orleans needs to close the deal with Kellen Moore, and hope that he can bring an explosive offense to the Saints, and lead the franchise to a Super Bowl.
