Despite five straight losses, Saints are confident they can dominate moving forward
The New Orleans Saints have a tall task in front of them if they’re going to end their playoff drought. After missing the last three postseasons, the Saints are currently 2-5, losing their last five games. Not many teams with five-game losing streaks find a way to make the postseason.
New Orleans is trying to defy the odds, and despite how the team has played recently, the franchise is still confident it can turn things around, go on a run, and ultimately punch its ticket to the postseason.
Saints general manager Mickey Loomis expressed this sentiment on a recent episode of his WWL-AM show. Loomis explained that while the team is taking things one game at a time, they know they can beat every team remaining on the schedule.
Mickey Loomis: There’s not anybody on our schedule that we can’t beat
This may seem like a foolish thing to say with how the Saints are playing right now, but Loomis is right. New Orleans entered the year with the easiest schedule in the league, and all of the tough opponents were early in the year. Looking at the remaining games, the Saints definitely have a schedule that could lead to a much-needed dominant second half.
Saints remaining 2024 schedule
• at Los Angeles Chargers (3-3)
• at Carolina Panthers (1-6)
• vs. Atlanta Falcons (4-3)
• vs. Cleveland Browns (1-6)
• vs. Los Angeles Rams (2-4)
• at New York Giants (2-5)
• vs. Washington Commanders (5-2)
• at Green Bay Buccaneers (5-2)
• vs. Las Vegas Raiders (2-5)
• Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-3)
Half of the remaining games are against teams that have been just as bad, or worse, as the Saints. By no means is it a schedule that strikes fear in anyone’s heart.
What is scary, though, is how New Orleans has played in recent weeks. If the team continues to look as bad as it has, it doesn’t matter who they’re lined up against, they’ll keep losing games. However, if the Saints can get healthy, and find their rhythm again, they can definitely go on a run.
