Derek Carr catches a stray as Drew Brees shares old Saints story about Michael Thomas
It’s a great week for the New Orleans Saints. After seven straight losses, the team finally picked up its third win of the season, defeating the Atlanta Falcons 20-17 in Week 10. While the team is now 3-7, vibes have been pretty high following the win.
Since the game, though, people have been trying to bring Saints quarterback Derek Carr back down. First, New Orleans’ fans went after Carr for shouting out Dennis Allen in his postgame interview. Then, on Monday Night Football, the veteran quarterback was brought up for all the wrong reasons.
During the pregame countdown show, former Saints quarterback Drew Brees was on as an analyst, and he shared a story about how he used to get all his weapons involved. Brees explained how, a lot of times, opposing defenses would be trying to take away Michael Thomas, so he’d feed the other weapons early.
However, the legendary quarterback would make sure to talk with Thomas on the sideline, letting him know to stay patient, as the offense is opening the game up for him.
After the very insightful look into how an elite quarterback and offense operated, Ryan Clark interjected and asked Brees if that’s why Thomas never went around New Orleans asking people about his then quarterback. The entire panel erupted in laughter, and Marcus Spears told Derek Carr to hang in there.

Clark was referencing a video that Thomas posted of a fan saying how much they don’t like Derek Carr. Of course, Thomas was endorsing this message, as it was one of the many posts he made to highlight how much he isn’t a fan of Carr.
The former Saints wideout has been pretty vocal about what he thinks of Carr as a quarterback. Carr has also responded, saying that Thomas is the one teammate he’s ever had that didn’t like him. Clearly, everyone knows where they stand with each other, and that’s why they were the subject of a joke on national tv.
