Monday morning, the New Orleans Saints fired head coach Dennis Allen. After two underwhelming seasons, and losing seven straight games this year, it’s a decision everyone can agree was the right move. Still, players don’t always take the news well.

Typically, when a coach is fired in the middle of a season, players speak out and take some of the blame, and wish their former coach well. While there was certainly some of that in New Orleans on Monday, there were also a few examples of former Allen-coached players seemingly rejoicing that he is now fired.

One player that appeared to throw shade at Allen was veteran defensive end Carl Granderson. Following Sunday’s game, Granderson and several other Saints took to social media to express their feelings. Granderson posted a broken-heart emoji, with Lil Wayne’s Let It All Work Out playing.

This morning, however, he was in a much better mood. He posted a picture of him smiling, with the caption, “How I walked in work today.” He also commented changes and good day, and had the song Good Day by Nappy Roots playing. This is either bad timing, or a very clear shot at Dennis Allen. Naturally, everyone assumed it’s the latter.

Granderson was the only current Saints player with a very obvious reaction, but a couple of guys who were recently Saints also had something to say. Of course, one of them was Michael Thomas.

The second the news broke, Thomas tweeted, “There it goes.” He went on to retweet two post about Derek Carr being Allen’s quarterback both times he got fired. Thomas’ disdain for Carr has been made clear, so it’s no surprise these post made it to his timeline.

He wasn’t the only former Saints receiver with something to say, though. A.T. Perry, who was waived by New Orleans earlier this season, tweeted, “God don’t like ugly,” with a shrug emoji. So clearly, there are some bad feelings there as well.

While only three guys have said something, it’s fair to assume there are more guys in the locker room who weren’t the biggest fans of Dennis Allen. If that’s the case, they no longer have to deal with him. Darren Rizzi will now be the head coach as the Saints try to navigate the rest of the season.
