The Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed duo is no more. Things officially came to an end for the two talented receivers on Tuesday, when the New Orleans Saints traded Shaheed to the Seattle Seahawks for draft compensation. Now, Shaheed is joining a Seahawks team that’s headed towards the postseason, and Olave remains in New Orleans for now.

The Saints receiver took to social media to react to his running mate being traded away. First, Olave simply shared a sad face emoji, which is understandable considering the bond the two have. He followed that up by responding to a tweet from his college teammate and current Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, letting the fellow receiver know that Seattle has “a great one” headed their way.

Olave and Shaheed entered the NFL at the same time with the Saints. Olave was a first-round pick for New Orleans in the 2022 NFL Draft, and Shaheed was an undrafted free agent for the Saints that same year. Despite how different their entrances to the league were, they immediately developed a bond, and grew up in the NFL together, as they became the top two receivers for the Saints.

In four seasons together, Olave played in 48 games catching 246 passes for 3,125 yards and 13 touchdowns, while Shaheed appeared in 42 games, notching 138 receptions for 2,055 yards and 12 touchdowns. The new Seahawks receiver also had a ton of big plays as a rusher and returner while with the Saints.

Unfortunately, injures and unstable quarterback play kept this duo from reaching its full potential, and an overall bad team brought the duo to an end much sooner than fans had hoped. Still, both guys were able to show off their abilities amidst challenging circumstances, and they created an exciting duo for four years.

Now, Rashid Shaheed will help a Seattle Seahawks team that has been surprisingly good this season. Reuniting with former Saints' offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Shaheed should be able to hit the ground running. For Olave, he will stay in New Orleans, for now, and help the franchise try to get things turned around. Of course, there’s still the chance that he could also be traded, but the Saints may want to hold on to him.
