Chris Olave's status as one of the best WRs in the NFL is suddenly up for debate

The opinion on Chris Olave is far from unanimous across the league when comparing the two most popular player rankings of the offseason. Olave was the third New Orleans Saints  player to crack the NFL top 100 list next to Travis Etienne Jr and Cam Jordan. Unless Chase Young is announced, he'll also be the last Saint on the list.

Coming off a career year, Olave's peers recognized the step up in 2025. It's the first time in his career that he's made the top 100 list. Olave landed at 64, and that's two spots ahead of Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London.

Players and coaches are split on Chris Olave

While Olave found himself a part of the top 100 list, he landed far outside of ESPN’s top 10 wide receiver rankings. The two lists are often juxtaposed because they come out annually at the same time. The top 100 list is voted on by players, while the ESPN positional rankings are voted on by coaches, scouts and executives.

The entire top 100 list hasn’t been unveiled yet, but it’s safe to say at no. 64 that Olave will be within the top 10-13 wide receivers on this list. That’s how players view him, but coaches and scouts view him much less favorably. He didn’t even make the honorable mentions in that list.

Olave did receive votes, so there was someone who felt he was a top 10 player at his position. It just wasn’t enough to crack the top 10 or 6 honorable mentions afterwards. The list doesn’t rank after the top-10, but the honorable mentions can be assumed to be the next group, in no particular order.

Based on that, Olave sits outside of the top-16 at the position. When getting specific, Olave ranks higher on the top 100 list A.J. Brown and Drake London. Brown was ninth in the positional rankings, and London was in the honorable mentions.

Olave had a monster year, but not everyone is sold on exactly where he sits among the other receivers in the league.
