During Kellen Moore's media availability, ESPN's Katherine Terrell told him that someone on the sideline called the joint practice against the Dallas Cowboys the CO show. That's how good Chris Olave was during the New Orleans Saints' second joint practice, and it was the performance he needed a day after it was announced Jordyn Tyson was out for two months.

Olave was targeted 8 times, and all 8 of those targets were ruled as catches, though the Cowboys would dispute one of them. Whether it was 7 of 8 or a perfect 8 for 8, Olave had an absolute monster day versus the Cowboys defense.

Tyler Shough and Olave were connecting for all different kinds of routes and catches. He caught back shoulder throws, ran routes from the slot and out wide. He caught a touchdown in the middle of the field on a quick slant and also making big plays on the sidelines downfield.

It's on Chris Olave, not the Saints' depth to replace Jordyn Tyson

Tyson's injury creates more opportunity players such as Bryce Lance, Barion Brown and possibly Kevin Austin Jr. or Bub Means. They'll get more snaps and the rookies will likely get more responsibility than originally believed. However, they shouldn't carry the burden of replacing Tyson.

The Saints will need to replace top end talent with top end talent. Devaughn Vele may be the player who has to replace Tyson's production, because Tyson was meant to be an addition to Olave. However, eyes should be on Olave to replace what Tyson represented.

Shough once delved into how Olave and Tyson share a similar trait that makes them special. Both of them are speed guys while also possessing good feel in their route running. They are both three level threats who can change the game in multiple ways.

Tyson didn't complement Olave by doing what he couldn't. He complemented Olave by giving the Saints two of a dangerous archetype. With Tyson out of the picture for the first month of the season at least, it's on Olave to sustain and take a step forward from what he did a year ago.

Maybe that was less of a necessity with Tyson, but now it's become of the utmost importance. It's on Olave to make the biggest plays and be the go to player at all times. Vele has shown the ability to be that as well, but that responsibility falls on the top guy.

There was a potential for Olave and Tyson to share that responsibility, and Tyson appeared worthy of the hype in camp, but now it rests solely on the shoulders of Olave. Got to have it situations are plays he simply has to make.
