The 2024 season was an abysmal one for the New Orleans Saints. Finishing the year with a 5-12 record, it was clear the organization needed a reset from top to bottom. Now, as the team prepares for a the 2025 season with first-year head coach Kellen Moore, one of the Saints’ veteran leaders is being transparent about how bad things got in the building last season.
Cam Jordan, who has never been one to hold his tongue, recently joined Terron Armstead’s The Set podcast, and opened up about a ton of topics. Things got especially interesting when Armstead asked his former teammate if he ever got close to leaving New Orleans at any point in his career. Jordan referenced a game from last season, where he frustratingly walked off into a tunnel after an embarrassing loss.
However, the veteran defensive end didn’t leave the Saints, instead, he says he made a phone call, and the next day, the team released, “the worst d-line coach [he’s] ever had.” Jordan was speaking about Todd Grantham, who served as New Orleans’ defensive line coach in 2023 and 2024.
Like a good interviewer, Armstead followed up and asked why Grantham was so bad. Jordan answered very bluntly, saying Grantham was a defensive coordinator forced to coach a position group, and the coach couldn’t adjust his broad mindset to focus on the specifics of the defensive line position.

Cam Jordan calls Todd Grantham the worst defensive line coach he ever had
Grantham is now the defensive cocoordinator for Oklahoma State, joining the collegiate program after things didn’t work out with the Saints. He was hired in New Orleans by Dennis Allen, another coach that Saints players seemingly weren’t a fan of. Both of their times with the team ended in 2024 during the horrendous season New Orleans had.
Now, the Saints have Kellen Moore leading the show, with a coaching staff that has a good mix of experience and newcomers. Right now, as the team prepares for the preseason, everything seems to be going well with the new coaches, but the real test will come when the regular season starts.
