Cam Jordan appears to take aim at Saints in cryptic social media post

It's time to read extremely deep into an equally as vague tweet by an NFL player. As we sit in the middle of May, Cam Jordan still isn't under contract with anyone. You'll see him still posting as if he's a member of the New Orleans Saints, but all other signs suggests there's a long way to go before that's true again.

The Batman director Matt Reeves went on a spree of tweets teasing The Batman 2. Certainly, Jordan saw those tweets and began to feel a bit nostalgic about past Batman films. That had to be how he landed on a gif of Harvey Dent's quote about becoming a villain. It's a very real possibility, but it's just as possible that this gif was in reference to his ongoing situation with the Saints.

Cam Jordan's negotiations with the Saints should have never seen the light of day

Jordan’s comments cast doubt on his current standing with New Orleans. We’re beyond questioning his future. With as long as this has dragged on for, the idea of Jordan staying is far from a forgone conclusion. However, the Saints will remain the favorite for his services until he signs elsewhere. Comments like this make you wonder where he and the team sit at the moment. 

It's clear Jordan wants to be in New Orleans, and the Saints probably want him back at a certain price. The two sides can't agree on the price, and Jordan's comments sound like a player who feels disrespected. He's been a hero in and for New Orleans for a long time. This could easily be a hit dog will holler situation, but that's the driving reason why his gif feels directed at a deal not being reached.

In a perfect world, Jordan and the Saints would have reached a conclusion quietly. The best case scenario is Jordan would have re-signed with the Saints after the draft. At that point, the Saints edge rusher room was decided and it was clearly room for Jordan. Even if he left, it would be best if it all happened quietly.

It’s an ongoing negotiation, and that ongoing negotiation playing out in the public feels messy and unbecoming of the history these two sides share. Jordan's posting tweets that could be applied to his negotiation. He's on Terron Armstead's The Set talking about cleaning out his locker just in case. These comments don't feel like a player who is confident he'll be returning, and last thing fans want to see is the Saints' relationship with a legend sour in front of our faces.
