Cam Jordan made some comments Tuesday night that some New Orleans Saints fans might not like to hear. While on a surprise visit on Terron Armstead's The Set podcast, the NFL legend alluded that his future in New Orleans might come down to the money. Fans won't want to hear it, but is anyone surprised?

Jordan was telling his former teammate that as football players, they only control what they can control. "Sometimes the business side of things makes things emotional, but you gotta be able to take the emotions out of it," He said to Armstead. "So of course I'd love to be (back) in New Orleans, and at the same time, if the cents don't make sense, we gotta find our own path."

The future Saints Hall of Fame member again reiterated that he just wants to be valued. Yet, it sounds like he and the team might have different ideas on what being valued should look like. The gap between the sides is wide enough for Jordan to feel the need to grab some of his stuff from his locker "just in case" he doesn't come back.

Cam Jordan is coming off of his best season in years

Last season was one of Cam Jordan's best in years. He gathered 10.5 sacks, hitting double digits for the first time since 2021 and gathered 47 total tackles. It's the first time he made it to the upper 40s since 2022. Despite that, the Saints should be careful with how they use their money here.

Heading into his 16th season, Jordan will be 37-years-old. Very rarely do players play elite-level football past that age, making it understandable if the Saints might not want to pay him a lot of dollars. It's hard to predict if that production is replicable.

However, it's also understandable from Jordan's perspective why he might want a decent chunk of change or perhaps even a change of scenery. Over the years, he's been there for the team on the field, in the locker room, and even in the city itself. It's only fair that the Saints show Jordan the same compassion in return and pay him something that shows his value without the use of any hometown discount.

Jordan stated there are three options he's considering. The fact that he called them options instead of teams could mean media is one of them. Though, Jordan saying he has a few years left in the tank could make retirement a longshot. Jordan flew back home to discuss these options with his wife.

It's pretty serious if the edge rusher had to get the wife involved. The Saints are probably one of the three teams that Jordan mentioned he is seriously considering, but he never did name them specifically. Seeing him in another uniform, no matter how weird or disheartening it would be, now seems all the more likely.
