The New Orleans Saints narrowly escaped versus the New York Giants in a game that saw one of the Saints' best offensive rallies, and one of their worst fourth quarter displays. Kellen Moore was looking for a statement victory, and that certainly wasn't it.

All the pressure was on the Saints to answer Gayle Benson's comments. It's safe to say this isn't the response anyone was looking for. A win is a win, but it's hard to feel more confident about this team.

Saints won't make it easy because why would they?

Saints are allergic to making things simple

It looked like the Saints were going to run away with this thing after putting up 34 answers unanswered points. The Saints let the Giants make this a game at the end the fourth quarter. The Saints had a 24 point lead with 11 minutes left, and the Giants went into the 2 minute warning down just one score.

Matter of fact, there was a point when Spencer Rattler came into the game. That's how much the Saints thought they had it in hands.

Daniel Carlson is probably safe for now

This was one of the takeaways from last week's game, but it bears some repeating. The Saints need to go find a new kicker. Daniel Carlson's first mistake of the game came with 15 minutes on the clock, yes the first play of the game.

Carlson failed to kick the opening kickoff into the landing zone, resulting in the Giants starting the game at the 40 yard line. While it didn't result in points, it did put the Giants in a great position from their first snap.

Later in the game, Carlson missed a 55 yard field goal. He has missed a kick, whether field goal or extra point, in all but one game this season. Making two 50+ yard kids will save him from getting cut this week, but a move wouldn't be unwarranted.

Kickoff return makes another huge impact

Quiet as kept, the Saints have had many impactful plays in the kick return department, and they had two of them at the end of the first half. Barion Brown returned the ball 41 yards to the 44 yard line. It set the Saints up for their first points of the day.

Brown had a similar sequence vs the Ravens before halftime. It was a critical moment in Week 2, and Brown's return this week led to the beginning of a massive unanswered scoring streak.

On the kickoff following the field goal, Isaiah Stalbird forced a fumble. The Saints scored a touchdown on the last drive of the half. Instead of going in down 10 points, those two special teams plays set the Saints to go in even in the intermission.

Jeremiah Wright looks good in his debut

Cesar Ruiz left the game with an injury, and Jeremiah Wright enters the game for the first time. This is a moment many fans have been looking for. The rookie didn't disappoint.

The running game made a significant improvement once Wright stepped into the lineup. Run blocking was always his specialty, so it shouldn't be a huge surprise that he did well in that department. One change isn't everything, but the unit was much more explosive with the rookie in the game.

Wright was solid in pass blocking as well. If Ruiz has to miss multiple weeks, this will be a major audition for what the future could look like.
