The New Orleans Saints are heading into 2025 with a new head coach in Kellen Moore, who is coming off a Super Bowl victory with the Philadelphia Eagles. Moore enters a situation where the Saints aren’t near the bottom, but they sure aren’t near the top either.
It’s been a rough couple of seasons for the Saints, so this will be a little bit of a fresh start for them. Moore is a brilliant offensive mind who can open up the playbook, but the Saints are going to need some more pieces to use to help support Derek Carr, as well as a future quarterback that they should be eyeing sooner rather than later.
On the other side of the ball, they should also be finding a way to get younger on defense at all three levels. Going into this year’s draft, the Saints already have nine picks to use but they should be a team that strongly considers trading back to stock up on draft picks for not just this year, but also next year.
The Saints currently hold the 9th overall pick so they are in a spot where teams could be looking to move up into the top ten to draft a specific player. Unless the Saints have their sights set on a specific prospect, they must consider moving back and there are three teams that could give them a nice haul of draft picks.
3 teams that could give Saints a haul of picks in NFL draft
Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks hold ten picks right now and with an overhaul to their roster, this is a perfect opportunity for them to move up to acquire some serious talent that they would have for the next four years minimum.
Seattle is currently sitting at No. 18 so them trading up to No. 9 isn’t out of the possibilities. The Saints could seriously gain some big draft capital to move back nine spots and gain some picks this and maybe even next year.
Miami Dolphins
Just like the Seahawks, the Dolphins also have ten picks but they are only four spots behind the Saints. However, Miami is still looking to get past the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East so they should seriously consider moving up to acquire a top ten talent to finally help put put Miami at the top of the AFC East.
The Saints may not be able to acquire a whole lot of draft picks, but don’t think that they couldn’t get a third, maybe even an additional fourth round pick as well.
Dallas Cowboys
Cowboys fans should be hoping that Dallas walks away with a top running back prospect in either Ashton Jeanty or Omarion Hampton. The Cowboys are sitting at No. 12 so a trade with New Orleans to move up three spot is more than reasonable.
Dallas has seven day three picks so this would be a great opportunity for the Saints to gain more picks to use on some potential late diamonds in the rough. The Cowboys also have ten picks so they can afford to trade some picks away to New Orleans.
