QB1: Jameis Winston

Unless Drew Brees unretires and returns to New Orleans, Jameis Winston will be the starting quarterback in 2022. This will be year 3 for Winston in the Big Easy and his second year as a starter.

Winston went No. 1 overall to the Buccaneers in the 2015 NFL Draft and despite putting up huge numbers, couldn’t hold onto the football. He threw a whopping 30 interceptions in 2019, which ended up being his last season in Tampa.

After the Bucs signed Tom Brady, Winston signed with the Saints as a backup and saw limited action during the 2020 season despite Brees getting injured and missing time. He re-signed last offseason and looked decent through seven starts but was injured in Week 8 and missed the rest of the year.

It took some time this offseason but Winston re-signed with the Saints again on a two-year deal despite the team going all-in for Deshaun Watson. Winston always felt like the answer for NOLA at quarterback this year and most fans are happy to see him get another shot to prove he can still be the starter.
