Saints free agency begins on Monday and the team could find themselves looking at some injury-prone players to bring in. Who could be worth the risk?

The New Orleans Saints are clearing cap space as we creep closer to the start of free agency. The legal tampering period begins on Monday morning at 11 CST while the official start of it kicks off at Wednesday at 3 CST.

There are some great names available on the free-agent market for New Orleans but they come with an asterisk next to their name, which is that these guys have the unfortunate luck of being injury-prone.

If the Saints take a risk and sign some injury-prone players, who might be worth the risk for them? Let’s take a look at six options.

6. Riley Reiff

For the first eight years of his career, Riley Reiff played left tackle for the Lions and Vikings. He signed with the Bengals last offseason and transitioned to the right side of the line, where, for the most part, he played pretty well.

The one big asterisk next to Reiff’s name is that he was banged up at the end of last season. He missed five games during the regular season and didn’t appear in any of the Bengals’ four playoff games, bringing his total missed games number to nine. That’s not a great stat for any team wanting to sign him.

Reiff still plays well, however, and now teams know he can play both tackle spots. The Saints would put him back at his preferred position of left tackle but would need to make sure that James Hurst is ready to step in if need be.
