The New Orleans Saints have obvious needs on their roster ranging from quarterback to wide receiver to offensive tackle along with several others. What about the positions that aren’t discussed in that “must address” conversation?

It feels pretty likely that the team adds a quarterback and wide receiver early in the draft (unless they make a fairly big move in free agency) but what are some other positions the team might find themselves needing to upgrade at?

Let’s take a look at three underrated positions of need for New Orleans entering the 2022 offseason.

3. EDGE

The Saints’ defense was the strength of the team last offseason and for good reason. The team finished the season ranked as the fourth-best overall defense and finished eighth in the league in sacks.

Furthermore, the team isn’t really losing any key contributors on their defensive line. Kwon Alexander might sign elsewhere but he wasn’t a huge name in the pass-rushing department. With all of this in mind, why should the Saints add EDGE rushers to their roster?

The biggest reason is that Marcus Davenport is entering the final year of his contract and Cameron Jordan is getting older (though he’s still effective). Adding another pass-rusher would only make this defense stronger and it’s why EDGE could be a position New Orleans still looks to address even if it’s not their biggest need.

One can never have too many pass rushers.
