Another year, another offseason in which the New Orleans Saints have to clear cap space. Many media outlets and analysts have already written NOLA off when it comes to offseason moves saying there’s no way the team can clear this much space to make any kind of impact.

Despite these claims, there are actually numerous ways the team can clear cap space. Today we’ll address three ways the Saints can clear cap space. All cap estimations are using Overthecap.com.

3. Restructure Cam Jordan

Cameron Jordan is no stranger to contract restructures. Just last year, the defensive end agreed to a restructure that helped the team out. Jordan’s current cap number is $23,181,250.

With a restructure, the team could potentially make his cap number go all the way down to $13,927,916.

The team does this by converting base salary into a signing bonus. This move creates over $10 million in cap space. Jordan is likely next in line with teammates Michael Thomas and Ryan Ramcyzk already agreeing to restructure.

With Jordan being 33 years old, he likely doesn’t have too many years left. Like any competitor, he wants another ring and will help the team get one by restructuring.
