4 quarterbacks NOLA Saints could trade for in 2022 offseason
1. Russell Wilson
The quarterback New Orleans has been linked to the most dating back to last offseason is Russell Wilson of the Seahawks. It makes perfect sense as to why, as the Saints have everything Wilson needs to succeed and they’ve now made an appearance on both of his lists.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported as the regular season came to a close that Seattle wasn’t interested in trading Wilson. Last week, however, it was reported by Ian Rapoport that Wilson was “exploring options” as far as his next destination is concerned.
If Seattle wants to keep Wilson, they will. There are two years remaining on the 33-year-old’s contract and that’s what makes a trade so difficult for New Orleans.
While the Saints would be an instant Super Bowl contender with Wilson quarterbacking their offense, the financial aspect of trading for him is tricky. We know how bad the Saints’ salary cap situation is and if they can’t afford guys like Cousins and Garoppolo, it’s pretty unlikely they’ll be able to afford Wilson, who is more proven than both of those guys and more expensive as a result.
Wilson might continue to be tied to NOLA but unless a lot changes, it’s doubtful he’s a candidate to start for the Saints in 2022 and beyond.
These are just a few quarterbacks New Orleans could potentially trade for in the offseason. There’s a chance, of course, that they re-sign Jameis Winston, roll with someone in-house, or draft a quarterback because those are going to be less expensive options.
Could you realistically see the NOLA Saints trading for any of these quarterbacks?
