The NOLA Saints are currently on the outside looking in at the playoff picture thanks to a five-game losing streak that was finally snapped this past week. Between now and the end of the season, these four teams are standing in New Orleans’ way of punching their tickets to the postseason for the fifth straight year.

Before we take a look at these teams, here’s the current playoff picture:

  1. Green Bay Packers (10-3)
  2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-3)
  3. Arizona Cardinals (10-3)
  4. Dallas Cowboys (9-4)
  5. Los Angeles Rams (9-4)
  6. San Francisco 49ers (7-6)
  7. Washington Football Team (6-7)

We won’t dive into the teams in the hunt because those will be the teams we’ll be discussing in this article.

Let’s get to it!

4. Washington Football Team

There are five NFC teams currently boasting a 6-7 record and the Washington Football Team has the No. 7 seed in the playoffs due to conference record (5-3). It’s been quite the season for Washington so far, as they’ve had to roll with Taylor Heinicke at quarterback due to losing their starter just minutes into the season opener.

Washington’s defense started off being one of the worst in the league but has settled in recent weeks, helping them get to this point. The Saints faced them earlier in the season and that’s one of their six wins on the season so if we get to a spot where NOLA and Washington have the same record, the Saints would have the advantage.

Be that as it may, if multiple teams continue to hold the same record and Washington keeps winning games they need to, they’re a team that could keep New Orleans out of the postseason.
