Saints Rumors: 6 reasons why Russell Wilson should come to NOLA
Saints rumors indicate that Russell Wilson would waive his no-trade clause for New Orleans, who are one of three teams he’d apparently do so for. While NOLA isn’t in a great spot right now, it’s not hard to see why Wilson would be intrigued to play for the Saints.
Let’s take a look at six reasons why Wilson could be interested in donning the black and gold in 2022 and beyond.
Sean Payton
The main draw to New Orleans is Sean Payton, who continues to be one of the best head coaches in the league. Payton is an offensive guru who would put Wilson in the best possible situation to succeed.
Not only is Payton a draw for Wilson but the Saints are easily the winner in the head coach department. Both the Broncos and Giants could be searching for a new head coach for the 2022 season and unless they have a home run hire (who would that be at this point?), NOLA has the edge here.
Better Offensive Line
Payton makes sure the Saints have a good offensive line each year and that’s something Seattle hasn’t done for Wilson. It wouldn’t be a problem in New Orleans, as they have star right tackle Ryan Ramczyk and center Erik McCoy as two of the anchors on that line.
Part of Wilson’s frustrations last offseason was the number of times he got hit in 2020. The Seahawks have continuously failed to give Wilson the offensive line he deserves. That wouldn’t be an issue in the Big Easy.
