Saints: 3 bold predictions vs. Jaguars in preseason Week 2
Saints Bold Predictions – Aldrick Rosas wows in Saints debut
For those who have been following along, the Saints have had bad luck at the kicker position. Wil Lutz, their normally clutch kicker, was injured early on in training camp and is going to miss some time as a result.
The Saints then signed Brett Maher as his temporary replacement but unfortunately, Maher was injured during the preseason opener. He was waived earlier this week and the Saints just struck a deal with Aldrick Rosas to fill in as their kicker until Lutz is ready to come back.
Rosas is no stranger to kicking in the NFL, spending four seasons in the league (three with the Giants, one with the Jaguars). He kicked for Jacksonville in six games last year, notching a 72.7% field goal completion, mostly struggling beyond 40 yards. He went a perfect 9-for-9 in extra-point attempts during his short tenure as a Jag.
Rosas isn’t facing an easy task walking into New Orleans just days before their preseason game but he’ll get the job done and lock down the kicker spot for the Saints. He won’t be the kicker once Lutz comes back, but Rosas will give Saints fans confidence that he can fill in admirably while Lutz is out.
