Saints Bold Predictions – Tony Jones Jr. dominates again

Sticking with another Notre Dame product, Tony Jones Jr. didn’t look to be in the equation at running back when training camp got underway. That was before he stole the show against the Ravens last week, rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown off of just seven carries while also showing he could thrive as a pass-catcher with five catches for 38 yards.

It was a showing that Jones desperately needed and if he wants to make himself a lock for the 53-man roster, he needs to put on a clinic once again. That’s exactly what will happen on Monday, as Jones will provide an explosive weapon in both the run game and passing game.

With another performance like he had against Baltimore, Jones should be able to pass newcomer Devonta Freeman on the depth chart and stake his claim on the final roster. In turn, this would likely boot Freeman from the roster and Jones would slide in as the No. 3 running back.

Heck, with another crazy good performance, it’s not impossible to think that Jones could eventually surpass Latavius Murray as the second-string running back.
