New Orleans Saints Position Battles to Watch – No. 2: Wide Receiver

The Saints don’t have much to write home about when it comes to the wide receiver position and that was the case even before Michael Thomas’ situation emerged.

As a result, wide receiver is one of the most important position battles to keep an eye on this summer. Thomas was the only reliable starter New Orleans had and now they’ll be looking to find anyone who can fill his shoes, even in the slightest.

Tre’Quan Smith and Marquez Callaway are the two receivers who have the best chance of being the go-to guys at the position. Smith might not play much, if at all, on Saturday due to recently returning from injury but the rest of the position has plenty of guys to keep an eye on.

Chris Hogan was signed shortly before training camp, Lil’Jordan Humphrey has had some big moments in camp, Jalen McCleskey is making a name for himself, and Juwan Johnson is another player to watch.

It’ll be interesting to see what all of these guys can do during Saturday’s game and if anyone climbs up the depth chart.
