The Saints‘ 2021 season schedule is out and there’s a lot to take away from it. The schedule was leaked prior to the official release so fans had time to really digest what was ahead this season and there’s a lot to be excited about if you’re a Saints fan.

With the addition of the 17th game in 2021, the Saints have an extra road game, facing the Titans on the road. Both teams finished first in their respective divisions, which is why they were picked to square off this year. They’ll still have eight home games and we’ll see the Saints under the lights plenty. That brings us to our first takeaway for the 2021 schedule.

Saints 2021 Schedule Takeaway No. 1: Bye week is too early

One of the first things I look at whenever a schedule is released is where the bye week is because that’s crucial. It’s even more important this year, as there’s an extra game being played.

Unfortunately for the Saints, their bye week is early in the season, coming in Week 6. They’ll have only played five games at that point and when they return will still have 12 games remaining and then whatever playoff games they could potentially have.

This isn’t the end of the world or anything to freak out about but having the bye week in the middle of the season is ideal. The Saints will have to make the most of their early bye week.
