3 reasons Alvin Kamara is irrelevant with Taysom Hill behind center

The receptions just aren’t there

Taysom Hill has thrown the ball 39 times in the last two games.

Alvin Kamara has had just three of those come his way. He has one reception for -2 yards. While Hill’s proven to be an effective quarterback, especially as a runner, he’s not the same in regards to how often he targets Kamara.

The check downs and screens just haven’t been in Sean Payton‘s gameplan. In the first ten weeks, Kamara neared 10 targets per game and averaged over seven receptions per game.

While his touches have been somewhat been there with his activity in the running game, if Kamara can’t get into the open field with screens, his production isn’t even going to get anywhere close to where it was.

For what it’s worth, that should be just fine with the team’s coaching staff as long as they continue to destroy opponents, something they have done throughout the first few weeks without Brees.
